  On October 31, 2014, I went to Little Silver for an exam, but I was running late so I called in advance (ended up being 6 minutes late). While in the office, I started eating my granola bar and asked did they have a water cooler. The receptionist and Rashel Potashnik, M.D. were standing at the counter and the dr. says no in a nasty/dismissing way. I just waived it off and said ok. If she had a problem with me eating my granola bar, this was the time to say it because she saw me. I asked because I only had a half bottle of water, and granola bars make your mouth dry. I thought it was a valid question; it’s a physical therapy center.
  She calls my name, I gather my things (moving slowly but that's the reason I’m there) and follow her; she says, get on the scale, and I comply. There was no professionalism, she could've asked. Then, she reads the number out loud; I told her don't forget I'm holding all these things to get an accurate reading (hoodie & pocketbook). I’m talking to her back because she is in the room by now, strike two.
  I walk into the exam room, put my things down in the chair, put the last piece of the bar in my mouth, and move over to the trash can to throw the wrapper away. While walking back to my chair she asked my age and height, I answered. I drank the last of my water to wash down the granola and started moving my stuff to sit and she says, no one ever told you not to eat in a doctor's office. In my mind I'm saying, I'm done eating & ready to do the exam; now you want to start with me - not today lady, not today.
  My response, no not one, and she say you should know. I said, ma'am if you didn't want eating in your office, that’s all you have to say. She goes on to say no one should have to tell you, again I said, lady I'm 35 years old and I know what I should/shouldn't be doing; again all you had to say was we don't allow eating in our office. The other stuff is irrelevant.
  Then she said, you're supposed to eat breakfast at home, and I lost it. Says who, you, I asked? Who the hell do you think you are; have you lost your mind, etc? Note: I practice non-cussing, you can ask anyone, but this lady was so disrespectful that she brought the worst out of me. Now, its ma’am calm down you’re raising your voice. I told her I didn't come here for this, I'm not your child and when you speak to me you better have some respect. I’m respecting you so why do you feel the need to talk down to me? Lastly she says, I'm not doing this. Good, I said because you're racist anyway and walked out. When I opened the door, the receptionist was standing there, all 4'9 inches. I guess the big, tall girl with brown skin was threatening.
  As I sat out in the lobby of the building, I see others sitting out there. I then realized that the 2 people that came in after me were being seen for disability. When I walked outside, I saw the JBI Transportation vehicle. It then clicked that this Dr. Potashnik was being prejudice. She was prejudging each and every person that came in there because she was contracted to do disability exams.
  One shouldn’t assume another’s level of education; she doesn’t know my life story. She should know why I need to eat; well she would know this if she read my chart or did her job. She has no clue that I’m a college graduate that has worked since the age of 14. I’ve worked for major corporations down to small businesses. She doesn’t know any of this because she was too busy being racist and judging someone by the color of their skin. Her behavior was uncalled for and unprofessional and her actions need to be addressed.
